Random Link Death Match

Bad luck is bad luck and the Lakers have plenty of it. Kobe is out 2 to 3 weeks and I rejoice from hearing the bad news. I like the Lakers. I hope this super-team wins it all. But I hate them more than I like them. And I hope it all blows up in their Showtime beyotch-ass faces. (Maniacal laughter begins.)

Older Windows versions win renewed support

The software giant has prolonged support for the operating systems until June 30, 2006. During that time, paid over-the-phone support will be available, “critical” security issues will be reviewed, and “appropriate steps” taken.

Rights issue dogs CD protection

Essentially, the major recording companies don’t want to pay music publishers twice for shipping out discs with copyrighted digital material like WMAs with regular audio cds. This constitutes as having two separate copies of the same material on the same disc.

Plus, the recording companies want to license digital versions of their music to online music sites, cashing in on the new found profitability of these online sites, without finalizing deals with many of the publisher who want to keep most of their shit offline until a unified agreement can be finalized.

See how that copyright bullshit can bite the dudes who pushed it in their own butts. I love this shit.

A dispute over royalty rights on copy-protected CDs and other types of music discs is helping to stall the release of some new music technology, and could result in record labels owing tens of millions of dollars in back payments to music publishers.

Hip-hop artists are working to sweeten their image

I think I need to sweeten my image. Maybe I could become the new-aged Loon before he started opening his mouth to reveal that he hates the beyotches that put the food on his table. Or maybe I need to go in the opposite direction, add Murder and Death to my name: Ron Murder, Doctar Murder, Killa Beyotch Nizzo, Death Master 2000. Yeah. I’m feeling that shit. Like the Westside Connect Gang, Double Murder = Double Platinum. And add that love shit to my shit, too. Luva Ron Murder-Death. Yeah. I’m keepin’ it real. Respect my Authoritay. Check my steez. Don’t fuck wit me. BEYOTCH!!!!! (Hand raised to smack you in your shit.)

…An executive at Arista, Outkast’s label, said: “In the beginning, that rough shoot-’em-up stuff was part of the marketing of hip-hop. Now a lot of people consider it a hindrance. Wal-Mart won’t stock your album if you’re too gangster.”

Murder Inc. (now simply called The Inc.) is not the first label to rechristen itself. Death Row, the West Coast outfit that made gangster rap a multimillion-selling commodity throughout the early- to mid-1990s, changed its name to Tha Row after the fortunes of the company had reversed, with many of the label’s biggest acts, including Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, defecting.

Humanoids Publishing
DC COMICS forms alliances with HUMANOID

The venture marks the first time that the full array of avant-garde and high-end European graphic novels have been available in the American marketplace. European stars of the Les Humanoïdes Associés library (such as Moebius, Bilal, Jodorowsky), and the big American stars of the Humanoids Publishing Catalog (Charest, Busiek, Cassaday) will now be published under the Humanoids brand name by DC. The steady supply of graphic novels will support DC Comics’ continued efforts to aggressively expand into trade bookstores, while building on its impressive presence in the comic book specialty market.

The Official UnOfficial Travis Charest Gallery

Charest was the best artist on WildCATS. Jim Lee was winging it. WildCats, you say. Think: X-Men rip-off. Think: Image, which essentially was one big catalog of early Marvel rip-offs. But many of the titles featured some of the best art and artists of the early to mid-90s comics period. And at least Lee tried to make something credible out of this book, hiring Scott Lobdell and Alan Moore to pen stories for the comic.
